We had a pretty low key night. Maddie only went to a few neighbors houses to trick or treat. It was pretty cold here and she still does not quite understand what is happening.
Matt and I got back from Italy last week. We were gone 2 weeks. It was a great time of traveling and relaxing. We were able to visit our friend Ian who is living there for work. It was great to catch up with him. He was a wonderful tour guide, host and photographer. We also did some sightseeing on our own. This vacation was the most time Matt and I have ever spent together! We sure missed Maddie, but it was fun to talk to her on the phone. She stayed with her grandparents and got plenty of love and attention. We would love to bore anyone who is interested in pictures and stories.
Love, Matt, Melanie and Madeline

Maddie turns 2!

Hello! Madeline celebrated her 2nd birthday on September 28th. We had a small family party with Elmo (Matt) as a surprise guest. He freaked her out a little and she kept saying, "No Dada, Elmo hat off, bye-bye." She is a pretty big talker now and everyday we hear, "Dada, Elmo funny!"
A few days later Maddie was a flower girl in her Aunt Anna's (Matt's only sister) wedding. We had a lot of family from the midwest around and it was a great time! Maddie did great. She was a little wide eyed walking down the aisle, but she got the job done.
Matt and I leave for Italy this week. Maddie is staying at home with grandparents, so I am sure she will not miss us as much as we will miss her. We will be visiting a friend from Boise who lives near Rome. Can't wait to update you and show pictures when we return. Ciao! Ciao!

Summer Update 2006

What a fast few months we have had. This summer has been busy with Young Life camping. We spent 10 days in Canada with high school students from Boise at the end of June. It was an amazing time! We were only home about 24 hours and then headed to the Oregon coast were Matt was camp speaker for 3 weeks. It was challenging, but God used him and we all had fun being at the beach.
Maddie is growing like crazy. She is pretty tall and loves to be at the center of everything. She fit right in with all the Jr Highers at camp and loved all the attention.
We plan on being home now for awhile and hope to spend some time at the lake. Let us know if you want a pull!! God Bless!

Easter Greetings!

Happy late Easter! Maddie is now 18 months old and is so fun to be around. We started Easter Day with a sunrise service which we were snowed on! Because of the weather we spent the afternoon at Melanie's parents with friends and family in their heated garage. Maddie had a great time on her Easter egg hunt and we all enjoyed watching her have so much fun. It is amazing how entertaining kids can be!
We are close to wrapping up Young Life for the year. That means we can focus on raising money and getting kids to Malibu in late June.
The remodel is going well and almost done. Our new bathroom is usable, but we still feel like we are showering in someone else's house.
Hope you are all having a great spring. As always, we would love to hear from you and catch up.

The Winter Romberg Update

Hello friends and family! It has been awhile since I have updated this page, so bear with me. Our big project of remodeling is getting close to being done. We have moved back into our bedroom and that is great progress. The plan is to be completed in the next month or so.
Matt and I were able to get away for a few days and go snowboarding in Utah last month. It was a great time for us to be alone together and relax on the hills. The snow was incredible and we had one epic day of powder.
Madeline continues to be the joy of our lives. She is turning into a little lady with quite a personality. She loves to sing, dance and be the life of the party. She also has a lot to say and it is fascinating to watch her start to speak in works we actually understand. We just had her 18 month check up with the Pediatric Cardiologist and she continues to improve. God is truly answering our prayers for her to be healed. Since she has such great check-ups, we do not need to return to the doctors for another 6 months.
Matt will be traveling more this spring for training and preparing for summer camp assingments. Please keep him in your prayer as he will be the speaker at a Young Life Jr High camp at the Oregon Coast during July. Spring can be a crazy time in YL land because of the annual Banquet and working hard to get the kids we work with every week to Malibu. We are encouraged by how God in working at Borah High School. We have plenty of stories we would love to share if your interested. Thanks for checking in!

Happy New Year!

Greetings and Happy 2006! We had a busy Holiday season filled with special family time and great memories. It can be quite a scheduling event to get time in with family and friends over the holidays, but we made it through another year. Melanie had to work a half day on Christmas, but it was a blessing to have some time off. Maddie had so much fun with the bows and wrapping paper. Maybe next year she will understand what is going on. We spent the New Years and our anniversary in the mountains. We snowboarded, relaxed and played in the snow. Maddie is a real snow bunny. She is quite a princess in her sled and loves to be pulled around the lake by grandma and grandpa. Looking forward to what this year has to bring.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. This month has been pretty busy for us. We had a Young Life Fall Camp with over 100 kids attending. It was a great weekend to hang out with high school friends and help them learn about Jesus.
We have also officially started snowboarding season. It has been an early year and we are lucky enough to already have gone twice with good snow!
We celbrated Thanksgiving at Matt's parents with most of the family. Melanie's family came for dinner and we spent the day eating and relaxing together. It was nice to have everyone in one place. Maddie was a little overstimulated with all that attention.
Maddie is so much fun. She is learning so many new things. She definatley has her own personality. She loves to dance, sing and is starting to say quite a few words. She is great entertainment and loves being the center of attention.
Wishing you all a great holiday season as we enter into December!

Happy Halloween!

Hello friends and family. We hope you are all doing well. We are having a great fall. The weather is very mild and we are taking full advantage of that. Matt is hoping to hunt some, but his schedule keeps filling up. Maddie is doing well. She changes every day and it is so fun to watch her grow and learn. She has started to talk and says about 10 real words, but she babbles constantly. I guess she has a lot to say. We were able to take a quick family trip to Sun Valley this month. It was beautiful and so relaxing to get away as a family. We window shopped and went on long walks to enjoy the fall colors. Maddie is a good traveler and is happy as long as there is activity or someone paying attention to her. We are planning on spending Halloween at a Harvest Festival through our church. In Matt's spare time he is working on putting a big hole in our house. We have demolished two bathrooms and eventually that area will be the master bathroom and closet. It is coming along well and we are excited about the final product. Hope to show final pictures close to Christmas. God Bless you all.

Maddie turns 1!

Maddie had her first birthday on September 28th. We celebrated with a family BBQ at our house. It was a fun low key way to "party" since she really had no idea what was going on. She was dressed as a pretty princess and loved all the attention. She cried when we sang her Happy Birthday and did not eat cake long because she did not like the frosting on her hands. I guess she is a little neat freak. Maddie has now started to walk and is definately on the move. It is amazing how fast a year goes. Can't remember life without her.

Greeting from the Rombergs!

Hello friends and family. This is my new attempt at keeping you up to date on what is going on here in our lives. I enjoy hearing from all of you and hope you will check back with us as I update this page.
We had a busy, but wonderful summer. Matt spent a week at Young Life's Malibu Club in Canada with about 150 kids from the Boise area. Not long after he returned, we packed up the car and headed to Wildhorse Canyon in Oregon for 3 weeks. Matt and Heidi worked as "program" by entertaining over 600 kids every week. It was a challenge, but God worked miracles while we were there. Maddie and I had a lot of bonding time as we watched all the activities and relaxed by the pool. After camp we met Matt's family at the Oregon Coast for a relaxing week.
Once we returned home, we started a bathroom remodel. Matt is working hard on demolition and reframing during his infrequent free time. Once this is finished we will have our own master bathroom and closet.
Maddie is growing and changing everyday. She has been a delight. This month she turns one! With all the excitement this brings, we also are now ready to have her heart valve fixed. She sees her cardiologist next week to schedule this procedure. We are a little anxious, but trust God with what needs to be done. We will keep you updated on when and what will be happening once we know more. Please pray for us in this area.
Melanie is doing great. I continue to work 2 days a week. I could not ask for a better, more flexible job. Maddie stays with my mom and for now this is an ideal situation.
Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you soon!
